Now, in case you haven't seen 313 The Firebending Masters I don't want to spoil you...
Now, about the Dragons and ultimately colored firebending...
Now, I can't take all of the credit for this theory since I got the idea from someone at ASN, but I thought of some of this and maybe you guys can offer support to this.
Does the gender of the Dragon effect the color of the Dragon? Common colors for dragons in this show is Red and Blue. At first I thought that Red was good and Blue was evil (evidence in The Earth King and The Avatar and the Firelord)... but Aang was matched up with the Blue dragon. So that symbolism is screwed up. Could the red dragon and blue dragon be male and female? Now, the red would be Male (Also evidence in Zuko's dream when Iroh, who is a guy, was the red dragon) and the blue be female (azula, who is a girl, voiced the blue dragon). Now symbolism on that aspect is also screwed up since Aang is a guy too... but he is more feminine then Zuko.
And then Azula has BLUE fire... now other girl firebenders have normal firebending but no guy has blue fire.... just Azula..
Am I making any sense at all? lol! I don't know but I thougth I should throw it out there.

Well.. Good point. But in Chinese mythology, the dragon is depicted as a male figure, while its female counterpart is the Feng Huang, a bird. Maybe there isn't a symbolism, maybe they are just the first dragons to exist. I still think the dragon is male though, not to be sexist in any way... They are the two masters, so maybe on represents all the evil people? Doubtful though. Although Aang and Zuko weren't really their apprentices, they were just shown the real way of firebending. I am still sticking to the fact that they are good and evil, but the dragons just didn't show their "true colours" if you know what I mean.
I hope that made sense to you guys.
Aangy...

"true colors".. its punny XD lol! (I'm a fan of puns!)
That's really interesting Aangy... if only there was a mystical bird in the Avatar world... oh wait.. what about Wong Shi Tong? (jk)
Good and Evil would be the best symbolism and by far the easiest to see, but its fun to see if there are any other parallels in this show

I think Wang Shi Tong is a male... And the Feng Huang is more of a rooster type bird. It has a beak of a rooster, face of a swallow, forehead of a fowl, neck of a snake, breast of a goose, back of a tortoise, the hindquarters of a stag and tail of a fish.. *breath of relief* Yeah.. I don't think something like that could have actually existed... We will have to wait for any other parallels...

lol! I threw Wong Shi Tong out there for laughs, but anyway...
How do you know so much about Chinese Mythology? Are you Chinese? (In no way do I want you to take this offensive. All of this info you have is cool)
Parallels are awesome

i think its a skill that you chose to do, like its an extra, if u remember when they were being followed by azula and ty lee and mai, azula caught the room on fire with blue fire, then it turned red a few seconds after, understand?

Well.. It comes out as blue fire but really when you look at still flames they always go back to orange, whatever the colour was before.. She is still capable of blue fire
German? Oh well.. Theres plenty of German and Irish stories I've heard, but Chinese has the biggest history.. I think they were still around during Jesus' time...They believe in a lot of things, thats why theres so much mythology

Blue firebending is a powerful and advanced technique. As of yet, it has been expressed solely by the prodigious Princess Azula. Blue fire naturally appears to be much hotter than the normal red and orange flames the bending art normally produces, and carries with it a concussive force. With blue fire, a Firebender is able to pulverize solid rock with compact fireballs and can cleanly slice or pierce through various other solid objects with fiery wisps.

Well, its a proven fact in our world that blue fire is the hottest
If you look at the center of a flame the fire is a blue color.
But I wasn't so much as try to dissprove that she has super extreme power but to see if there was a parallel between the color blue and females. *shrugs*

anyways, nice theory. i can't think of anything to add to that, except that i think the dragons are both good. i like how the meaning of firebending is life and beauty, and the sun of course...
